Hierarchical Search for Parsing
نویسندگان
چکیده
Both coarse-to-fine and A∗ parsing use simple grammars to guide search in complex ones. We compare the two approaches in a common, agenda-based framework, demonstrating the tradeoffs and relative strengths of each method. Overall, coarse-to-fine is much faster for moderate levels of search errors, but below a certain threshold A∗ is superior. In addition, we present the first experiments on hierarchical A∗ parsing, in which computation of heuristics is itself guided by meta-heuristics. Multi-level hierarchies are helpful in both approaches, but are more effective in the coarseto-fine case because of accumulated slack in A∗ heuristics.

Hierarchical phrase-based translation with weighted finite state transducers
This dissertation is focused in the Statistical Machine Translation field (SMT), particularly in hierarchical phrase-based translation frameworks. We first study and redesign hierarchical models using several filtering techniques. Hierarchical search spaces are based on automatically extracted translation rules. As originally defined they are too big to handle directly without filtering. In thi...
متن کاملHierarchical Phrase Alignment Harmonized with Parsing
In this paper, we propose a hierarchical phrase alignment method that aims to acquire translation knowledge. Previous methods utilize the correspondence of sub-trees between bilingual parsing trees after determining the parsing result. The method described in this paper combines partial tree candidates, and selects the best sequence of partial trees. Then, a structural similarity measure (calle...
متن کاملHierarchical A* Parsing with Bridge Outside Scores
Hierarchical A∗ (HA∗) uses of a hierarchy of coarse grammars to speed up parsing without sacrificing optimality. HA∗ prioritizes search in refined grammars using Viterbi outside costs computed in coarser grammars. We present Bridge Hierarchical A∗ (BHA∗), a modified Hierarchial A∗ algorithm which computes a novel outside cost called a bridge outside cost. These bridge costs mix finer outside sc...
متن کاملAn improved joint model: POS tagging and dependency parsing
Dependency parsing is a way of syntactic parsing and a natural language that automatically analyzes the dependency structure of sentences, and the input for each sentence creates a dependency graph. Part-Of-Speech (POS) tagging is a prerequisite for dependency parsing. Generally, dependency parsers do the POS tagging task along with dependency parsing in a pipeline mode. Unfortunately, in pipel...
متن کاملParallel processing model for XML parsing
In this paper, are presented some development problems and solutions concerning the parallel implementation of an algebraic method for XML data processing. It is in tight connection with modern concepts of the parallel programming. The proposed parallel algorithm first partitions the XML document into chunks and then apply the parallel model to process each chunk of XML tree. In the article are...
